Pizza for breakfast? Why not?

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day. A healthy breakfast not only satisfies your appetite, but also gives you high energy, setting the stage for a better day ahead.

I travel around the world, exploring new cuisines, tastes, recipes and more. Irrespective of my busy schedule, I never skip breakfast, but plan it in a way that sets the day just right. Breakfast is my main meal and is a non-negotiable ritual that I love to follow every single day.

Who says breakfast is boring?

Often, when we say ‘breakfast’, a lot of us relate it only with the usual spread like bread, eggs, cornflakes, Indian dishes like poha, parathas, idlis, etc. Well, they indeed make for our staple diet, but breakfast is far more diverse than these dishes. Breakfast is also about innovation, exploration and amalgamation of food, fruits and vegetables into a healthy and delicious spread.

Given the fast pace of our lives, I can understand that it sometimes gets difficult to lay out an elaborate spread. This is why I choose to experiment with new recipes. Off late, I am doing a lot of recipes with oats, wherein I attempt to turn the conventional way to eat oats into wider recipes and formats.

The idea is to take common recipes, mix it with uncommon foods and turn it into tasty delights. I have recently experimented with Avocado and Challah bread in my #Foodventures video, making a playful egg, avocado scoop to be served with Challah bread. The idea was to not just provide nourishment and taste, but also to present the food in an interesting and refreshing way that would entice the entire family, especially kids, to grab a bite. Talking about kids and young adults, you can also try a fruit and veggie pizza for breakfast.

Who says you can’t have pizza for breakfast?

If you get creative with food, you can eat even pizza for breakfast. How? Well, simply by making it healthy, quick and loaded with taste. All you need to do is ‘replace’. Replace the white flour base with barley or millet thick base encrusted with dry chia seeds and nuts. Lay a bed of fresh tomato-basil puree, top it with fresh vegetables and fruits like olives, apple, corn, zucchini, pineapple and more. Finish with a garnish of black pepper, chat masala and finely chopped cilantro. Your breakfast table gets a quick pizza uplift that even the most fussy breakfast eater cannot ignore.

The next time you think your breakfast is getting boring, spare no moment to don your exploratory hat, add a dash of creativity and get adventurous.
