Delicious twist to festive foods

India is a land of the diverse culture and food is its sweetest common factor. Food and festivals bring people together like no other. Our celebrations, festivals, occasions may vary with our culture but in spite of difference in their rituals, they have something in common- Food, especially the sweets.

When food bring different festivals together why not bring different food from different cultures together and combine it in one single dessert? I sounded this idea to the lovely team of Shangri-La Hotel in Delhi and they were all heart to be part of this sweet fusion. The question was- what?

Since we were talking about India and its cultural tradition, I decided to pick the delicacies from the neighboring states like UP and Rajasthan and combine it with another favorite dessert of populace- chocolate.

Dark Chocolate Ghewar with Thandaai

Ghewar is a popular sweet from Rajasthan, used largely in their popular festival Teej. I have combined it with Dark Chocolate Ganache Coating and will sauce it up with Thandai from Uttar Pradesh. Thandai is a quintessential drink of UP and no festival of Holi in UP is complete without Thandai.

It is a simple, easy to make dessert that I bet no food adventurist will say no, ever. For me, it is not just a dessert but a bid to bring forth and unite the different cultures of my beloved nation via food.

I like the idea of combining dishes like this to create something new, because I always hope it inspires others to try and do the same. Any traditional sweet from one part of India can be tweaked and fused with something else from another part to make a whole new dessert. All you have to do is experiment a little. The best thing about this is the fact that you get to taste all your experiments! As for this one, I am going to take a spoonful and relish it forever.

Boundaries may exist but why limit your palate? So do not restrict your imagination and keep foodventuring with Axis Bank Dining Delights.
